The first week is about orientation, not perfection. You will meet your team, learn the rhythm of care, and start building enough comfort to keep showing up.

Before day one

Intake usually begins with a confidential conversation. We review clinical history, current needs, insurance or payment details, and the level of care that fits your life.

You will leave that conversation with a clearer picture of scheduling, what to bring, and who will be on your care team.

  • Confirm your first appointments and location details
  • Complete any remaining paperwork before you arrive when possible
  • Ask about parking, arrival time, and who to ask for at the front desk

Intake and assessment

Your first clinical contacts focus on understanding the whole picture: substance use, mental health, medical considerations, supports, and goals that matter to you.

This is not a test. Honest answers help us build a plan that is realistic for work, family, and daily life.

Your schedule takes shape

Outpatient care is designed to fit real life. In the first week you will typically begin individual sessions and, when clinically appropriate, group programming.

We keep the calendar clear and predictable so you know what is expected and how to reach someone if plans need to shift.

  • Individual therapy or clinical check-ins
  • Group sessions when they support your plan
  • Case coordination for insurance, referrals, or next steps

Building comfort with your team

Trust grows through consistency. Your clinicians will explain roles, confidentiality, and how decisions get made together.

If something feels unclear, say so early. Questions about medication coordination, family involvement, crisis support, or session focus are welcome from the start.

By the end of week one, most people have a working schedule, a named point of contact, and a first version of their treatment plan. From there, we refine care as you settle in.
